時針「短針」 hour-hand indicates hours

分針「長針」 minute-hand indicates minutes

英文對時間的唸法除了按照「時：分」這個順序之外，還有「分：時」，以及把60分鐘分為四等分：一刻鐘的通俗用法 「這部分中文也有，不過現下不常使用了， 例：三點一刻．因此要把這部分加入教學內容中 ．

使用詞句：

1. 短針在10長針在12 the hour-hand points to 10, the minute-hand points to 12
2. 短針是時針代表現在是第幾個小時the short hand is the hour hand, it points to the current hour.
3. 分針指在哪裏告訴我們過了幾分鐘 the minute hand points to the number that tell us how many minutes have gone.

注意到了嗎？口語裡會使用到的「在」,「指向」,「走」都可以使用同一個單字point to 來表達就好. 時態部分使用現在簡單式就可以了．

4. 時針走了6個數字, 從9到3. 分針停留在12 . the hour-hand moves around the clock by 6 numbers, from 9 to 3. the minute-hand stays at 12.
